Maharashtra political bigwigs, chief ministers of several states and
party activists from all over the country are expected to attend the
funeral.

accorded to Munde. His wife is Pramod Mahajan's sister and they have
three daughters.

Gopinath Munde's mortal remains being taken to a chopper which will fly to his village Parali in Beed district.

BJP patriarch LK Advani, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Urban
Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan
will attend Gopinath Munde's funeral.
Munde's funeral is expected to take place at around 4.30 pm in the premises of a sugar factory founded by him near Parali.
The body of union minister Gopinath Munde is being flown
from 'Poorna' building in Worli to Latur in central Maharashtra. From
Latur, the body will be taken to Parali in Beed district (Munde's Lok
Sabha constituency), around 70 km from Latur.
The body of Munde, who died in a road accident in New Delhi on
Tuesday, was brought to Mumbai by a special aircraft last night. His
last rites will be held in his native village of Parali-Vaijnath in
Maharashtra today.
Thousands of mourners, including senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders,
activists and common people received the casket containing the body at
the Mumbai airport where security forces accorded a guard of honour.
It was taken in a motorcade to the Munde family residence at the
'Poorna' building in Worli for relatives, friends and close
acquaintances to pay their last respects to the departed leader.
Senior leaders like Vinod Tawde, Kirit Somaiya, Ramdas Athawale, Raj
Purohit, Munde's daughter Pankaja Munde-Palve and others accompanied the
body.
Ironically, it was the same building where Munde's brother-in-law and
former BJP strongman Pramod Mahajan was gunned down by his brother
Pravin eight years ago.
